When we think about what we should do to help to burn through the excess fat on our bodies, the first thing we usually think about is eating less. However, recent research into what determines weight loss has shown that this may not actually be the most important factor.
A recent study on what determines weight loss has revealed that the quality of the food you eat actually plays a bigger role than the quantity. This research provided a considerable amount of new insight into losing weight the most effectively, while underscoring previous study findings.
For instance, when it comes to what determines weight loss, the research indicated that what is eaten has a larger impact than physical activity. Food consumed also plays a more important role than sleep duration or amount of television watched. This strengthens a growing body of evidence that has suggested the same thing.
Within this research, participants were asked to reduce potatoes, sweetened beverages and refined grain-based foods. Simultaneously, they were asked to increase the number of whole foods they ate. This included vegetables, fruits, nuts, whole grains and yogurt. They were asked to avoid anything that was processed.
Harvard School of Public Health nutrition expert, Professor Frank Hu was the lead author on this research. He explained that they have effectively underscored the vital nature of healthful eating in the prevention of weight gain and in obesity. This also suggests that any notion that there aren’t any “good” or bad” foods is a myth. Professor Hu feels that it is important for this myth to be debunked.
The findings of this study were published within the New England Journal of Medicine. Beyond the importance of healthful, balanced eating, it also showed that obtaining the right amount of sleep is also very helpful in healthy weight maintenance. In this research, participants who slept between six and eight hours per night experienced less weight gain than those who slept more than eight hours or fewer than six hours.
Those who were regularly active were also less likely to gain weight and had a better chance at healthful weight maintenance.
Aside from the findings of this study, many dieters have found that choosing a high quality diet pill can help them to remain motivated and to improve their weight loss results. Choose a weight management pill such as Phentramin-D which contains energy boosters and fat burners to accelerate your efforts to reach your goals.
