The findings of this study were published within the New England Journal of Medicine. In this research, participants who slept between six and eight hours per night experienced less weight gain than those who slept more than eight hours or fewer than six hours.

Those who were regularly active were also less likely to gain weight and had a better chance at healthful weight maintenance.
